I blame alcohol.
Jessie and I got a little too close that night (myself of the left, jesse on the right)…
Request Tracker – DashMail to the Rescue
I love Request Tracker. It helps me organise and not loose track of all the jobs floating around. I know that even if I’m swamped if I keep adding jobs in, they’ll never be lost.
Problem is that I found there are quite a lot of simple off the cuff things that i am asked to do and filling in a web form does take some time. So I started investigating writing a mac os x Widget to do the job of a simple form for RT and dedcided that curl hacking wasn’t worth my time to learn properly.
Then this morning I woke up and thought ‘JB, you noob, you can create jobs in Request Tracker with e-mails alone!’. A simple e-mail sending widget… now that would be easy.
Then a quick google revealed DashMail, a very simple e-mail sending widget that even remembers up to 5 previously send contacts… a little hacking bumped that up to 10 and now all my job categories are stored in the drop down box.
Quite time saving, now it takes me less then 30secs to log a simple job.

Now all I need to do is look at some predictive text for the widget to type in and guess a previously sent e-mail address so I don’t have to click on the drop down box….
