Australia Day ’07

without comments

Australia Day is perhaps the only day of the year where it’s considered ‘ok’ to wave around an Aussie flag and dress up in green & gold.  Overall I think Australian’s are a pretty calm and collective bunch, but you wouldn’t have thought that if you were around our party.
Just like last year we raided the Fitzsimon household for beer, BBQ, and pool shenanigans.  Difference being that there were at least a dozen more people at the party this time with at around 30-50 people in total.  Peter’s estimate of over-catering for the BBQ was lucky since the hungry mob consumed everything in site…

… including copious amounts of beer.  I think by the end of the day the pool must have had a higher alcohol percentage from the amount of drinks knocked/spilled and tipped into it.  Nothing like pouring a cold one on your mates back to get a reaction.
Sure I didn’t tattoo myself in Australian flags or scream around singing ‘Aussie Aussie Aussie’… but I did bring a but load of inflatable toys which were put to good use by being smashed, bashed and crashed into people.

Peter took some great shots during the day and Andy uploaded them to his flickr gallery.  I’m kicking myself for not getting a group shot together but I guess there is alway next year!

Thanks to Peter and Andy for organising the day Promise I’ll come around the following day next year to help clean up a bit more!

Summafieldayze 2007

without comments

Arriving back in Brisbane with over 14 hours of flight time and very little sleep over the pass 48 hours it was time to get my dancing shoes on and push it to the limit at Summafieldayze!

Having never been to Summafieldayze before and not knowing anyone who had, it was a bit of a gamble buying the tickets.  The dice rolled in our favour though as it was a cruzy 40,000 person day!
The Freestylers were pretty good with their ending songs being the music highlight of the day… ’cause they were Pendulum mixes!  Fasten your seatbelt and Painkiller pushed my heart rate to dangerous levels and no doubt shaved a few months of my life expectancy.

Sure there were some down points also… with the three tents so close to each other the music wasn’t as loud and pumping as it could have been.  The drink purchasing was silly as you had to not only pre-purchase drink tickets but have the drinks charged in odd numbers and cents.  Would have been quicker and easier to have a certain amount of cash for one drink ticket that could buy a drink, but cest la vie.
Here’s a little vid shot on my trusty N70…

Dare I say it, can’t wait till Summafieldayze 2008!

Construction

without comments

Trying to find a good photo to give an idea of just how much construction there is here.

Not the best picture, but there’s a few cranes there.
